S2Media™ Plate Count Agar (PCA)/Standard Methods Agar (SMA)
S²Media™ Standard Methods Agar (SMA), is a general-purpose, non-selective, and non-differential medium used for the cultivation and enumeration of viable microorganisms. The nutrient-balanced formulation supports the recovery of a broad range of aerobic and facultatively anaerobic bacteria without selective or differential agents. Standard Methods Agar is commonly used to determine microbial populations in food, dairy products, beverages, cosmetics, water, wastewater, and samples of sanitary significance. The medium is particularly suited for aerobic plate counts, standard plate counts, and general microbiological quality assessment. This medium is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.
Also known as:
APHA Standard Methods Agar
Heterotrophic Plate Count Agar (Note: A general term used for water HPC testing media.)
