S2Media™ Luria Broth with Agar, Carbenicillin, and Cycloheximide
S²Media™ Luria Broth with Agar, Carbenicillin, and Cycloheximide is a selective, nutrient-rich solid medium designed for the cultivation and recovery of carbenicillin-resistant bacteria from laboratory and environmental samples. Luria Broth base provides peptides, amino acids, vitamins, and other nutrients that support robust bacterial growth, while agar provides a solid surface for colony isolation and enumeration. Carbenicillin suppresses susceptible bacterial flora and permits recovery of organisms possessing the appropriate resistance determinant, while cycloheximide inhibits competing yeasts and molds. The medium is particularly suited for selective recovery, enumeration, and maintenance of appropriately characterized bacterial strains from samples containing mixed microbial populations. This medium is intended for laboratory use and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.
