S2Media™ prepared EC Medium with MUG is a selective fluorogenic broth for the detection and confirmation of Escherichia coli in water, food, and environmental samples. The buffered lactose formulation contains bile salts to suppress competing organisms, while 4-methylumbelliferyl-β-D-glucuronide (MUG) enables rapid detection of β-glucuronidase-positive E. coli through characteristic fluorescence under long-wave UV light. The medium is prepared according to formulations specified for U.S. EPA and standardized food and water testing methods, supporting microbiological quality control and fecal contamination assessment. EC Medium with MUG is not intended for the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.
