S2Media™ prepared Brilliant Green Bile Broth (BBGB) is a selective liquid medium utilized for the detection and confirmation of coliform bacteria in water, food, dairy, and other microbiological samples. Brilliant green and bile inhibit competing Gram-positive and non-target organisms, while lactose fermentation by coliforms is demonstrated by gas production. The medium is commonly used as a confirmatory step following a positive presumptive coliform test in multiple-tube fermentation and Most Probable Number (MPN) methods. Brilliant Green Bile Broth is not intended for the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.
