S²Media™ prepared BCYE-PAC is a selective culture medium intended for the isolation and cultivation of Legionella spp. from clinical and environmental specimens. The BCYE base provides essential nutrients and growth factors, including L-cysteine and iron, while activated charcoal adsorbs inhibitory compounds and ACES buffer maintains optimal pH for Legionella recovery. The PAC selective supplements suppress competing bacterial and fungal flora, facilitating recovery of Legionella, particularly L. pneumophila, from complex specimens. S2Media™ BCYE-PAC is well suited for clinical microbiology, water testing, and environmental surveillance of Legionella spp.
