S²Media™ prepared BCYE-GPVC is a selective and differential culture medium intended for the isolation and cultivation of Legionella spp. from clinical and environmental specimens. Buffered Charcoal Yeast Extract (BCYE) provides essential nutrients and growth factors, including L-cysteine and iron, while activated charcoal adsorbs compounds that may inhibit Legionella recovery. The GPVC selective supplements suppress competing bacterial and fungal flora, facilitating recovery of Legionella from complex specimens. S2Media™ BCYE-GPVC is well suited for clinical microbiology, water testing, and environmental surveillance of Legionella.
