Chameleon™ COLOREX™ C.difficile
Chameleon™ COLOREX™ C.difficile prepared culture media plates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ raw materials. This selective fluorogenic culture medium is intended for the qualitative direct detection of Clostridioides difficile from stool specimens. Following 24 hours of anaerobic incubation at 35-37°C, characteristic fluorescence under UV light facilitates rapid presumptive identification while selective properties suppress competing intestinal flora. The medium supports gastrointestinal colonization screening, infection prevention, and recovery of isolates for further microbiological testing and epidemiological characterization. C. difficile is not intended to diagnose infection or guide antimicrobial therapy; presumptive isolates should be confirmed using appropriate identification methods.
👉 Key Performance Features:
Rapid Detection: Produces large, readily detectable C. difficile colonies (approximately 2 mm) after only 24 hours of anaerobic incubation, compared with up to 48 hours for traditional culture media.
Fluorogenic Differentiation: Characteristic colony fluorescence under UV light facilitates rapid presumptive identification of C. difficile.
High Clinical Sensitivity: Demonstrated 95.4% clinical sensitivity, compared with 70% for the reference taurocholate-CCFA medium.
High Selectivity: Demonstrated 100% analytical specificity and 88.8% clinical specificity for recovery of C. difficile.
Improved Recovery: Enhanced clinical sensitivity supports recovery of C. difficile from stool specimens containing complex competing intestinal flora.
Versatile Application: Suitable for testing clinical specimens and environmental samples, supporting both colonization screening and healthcare environmental surveillance.
