CHROMagar™ Y.enterocolitica, 5000mL
CHROMagar™ Y. enterocolitica is a selective chromogenic culture medium for the qualitative detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of pathogenic Yersinia enterocolitica biotypes. The medium is intended for use with rectal swab and stool specimens to aid in the detection of Y. enterocolitica, with characteristic colonies identifiable after 36-48 hours of aerobic incubation at 30±2°C. It is also suitable for the detection of Y. enterocolitica in food products, animal feed, and environmental samples.
Presumptive isolates should undergo confirmatory identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and epidemiological characterization, as appropriate. Negative culture results do not exclude the presence of Y. enterocolitica. The medium is intended to aid in detection and is not intended to diagnose infection or guide or monitor antimicrobial therapy.
👉 Key Performance Features:
High Specificity: Selectively detects pathogenic Yersinia enterocolitica, reducing false-positive results associated with background flora on conventional CIN agar.
Chromogenic Differentiation: Distinct colony colors differentiate pathogenic biotypes (mauve) from non-pathogenic biotypes (metallic blue) for rapid presumptive identification.
High Selectivity: Enhanced inhibition of competing microorganisms improves recovery and visibility of target organisms from mixed cultures.
Reduced Confirmatory Workload: Minimizes unnecessary follow-up testing by limiting non-target and false-positive colonies.
Easy Interpretation: High-contrast chromogenic reactions enable rapid, reliable plate reading and efficient identification of suspect pathogenic isolates.
