CHROMagar™ StrepA, 5000mL
CHROMagar™ StrepA is a selective chromogenic culture medium for the qualitative direct detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of Streptococcus pyogenes (GAS) from throat swab specimens. Following incubation at 35-37°C in a CO₂ enriched atmosphere, characteristic colonies can be interpreted after 18-24 hours, enabling rapid recognition while preserving isolates for confirmatory identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and epidemiological characterization.
CHROMagar™ StrepA is intended to aid in the diagnosis of GAS throat infections. Negative culture results do not exclude the presence of GAS, and the medium is not intended to diagnose infection or guide or monitor antimicrobial therapy. Further microbiological testing is recommended for definitive identification and characterization of suspect isolates.
