CHROMagar™ Staph aureus, 5000mL
CHROMagar™ Staph aureus is a selective chromogenic culture medium for the direct detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of Staphylococcus aureus from clinical specimens (tegument, wound, soft tissue swabs, etc.), as well as food products, animal feed, and environmental samples. Following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C, the medium provides characteristic chromogenic differentiation to support rapid screening for S. aureus colonization or contamination. Suspect isolates require confirmatory identification and, where appropriate, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, or epidemiological typing.
👉 Key Performance Features:
Rapid Detection: Detects presumptive Staphylococcus aureus within 24 hours, reducing turnaround time compared to conventional media.
Chromogenic Differentiation: S. aureus produces distinctive mauve colonies, enabling rapid recognition and simplified interpretation compared with Blood Agar and Mannitol Salt Agar.
High Performance: Demonstrates 95.5–100% sensitivity and 99.4–100% specificity in published analytical and clinical evaluations.
Supplement-Free Formulation: Ready-to-use formulation contains all required selective and chromogenic components, eliminating the need for Rabbit Plasma Fibrinogen (RPF) supplementation and extending media stability.
Improved Laboratory Efficiency: Reduces confirmatory testing and streamlines workflow through rapid, high-specificity presumptive identification of S. aureus.
