CHROMagar™ Serratia, 5000mL

Quantity

CHROMagar™ Serratia is a selective chromogenic culture medium for the direct detection, isolation, and presumptive identification of Serratia marcescens from rectal, throat, and wound swabs, stool specimens, and environmental surface samples. The medium is intended to support surveillance of S. marcescens colonization and environmental contamination, particularly in intensive care and neonatal units, to aid infection prevention and control. Following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C, characteristic chromogenic colonies enable rapid screening. Suspect isolates require confirmatory identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and, where appropriate, epidemiological typing.

👉 Key Performance Features:

  • Rapid Detection: Enables rapid detection of Serratia spp. within 20-24 hours, supporting timely contamination investigations and outbreak response.

  • Chromogenic Differentiation: Serratia spp. produce distinctive green-blue colonies, enabling easy recognition and presumptive identification of both pigmented and non-pigmented strains.

  • High Performance: Demonstrates 97–100% sensitivity and 97–100% specificity in analytical and clinical evaluations, providing reliable detection across clinical and environmental specimens.

  • Enhanced Specificity: Reduces false positives commonly encountered with conventional media such as MacConkey and Blood Agar, minimizing unnecessary confirmatory testing.

  • Improved Laboratory Efficiency: Simplifies colony interpretation and streamlines workflow by enabling direct differentiation of Serratia from background flora.

🧪The 5000mL kit (SM302) contains:
