CHROMagar™ Orientation, 5000mL
CHROMagar™ Orientation is a non-selective chromogenic culture medium for the direct detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of uropathogens from human urine and veterinary specimens. Following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C, the medium provides chromogenic differentiation to support the laboratory diagnosis of urinary tract infections. Suspect isolates require confirmatory identification and, where appropriate, antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
👉 Key Performance Features:
Broad Pathogen Differentiation: Chromogenic reactions provide simultaneous differentiation of the most common urinary tract pathogens on a single medium, supporting rapid presumptive identification.
Enhanced Detection: Improves recognition of mixed cultures and minor microbial populations, increasing detection of clinically significant organisms.
Semi-Quantitative Assessment: Supports semi-quantitative evaluation of bacterial growth for urine culture analysis.
High Specificity: Demonstrates 99.3% specificity for the presumptive identification of Escherichia coli, the most common urinary tract pathogen.
Improved Laboratory Efficiency: Replaces multiple conventional media (Blood Agar, CLED, and MacConkey Agar) with a single chromogenic medium, reducing workflow, media usage, and the need for subcultures prior to antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
