CHROMagar™ CCA (Chromogenic Coliform Agar) is a selective chromogenic culture medium intended for the detection and enumeration of β-glucuronidase-positive Escherichia coli and coliform bacteria in water samples with low background flora, in accordance with ISO 9308-1. The medium supports routine microbiological monitoring of drinking water by differentiating E. coli and other lactose-fermenting coliforms, key indicator organisms of fecal, environmental, and organic contamination. Detection of these organisms provides an important measure of water quality and the effectiveness of water treatment, storage, and distribution systems.
