CHROMagar™ Candida Plus, 5000mL
CHROMagar™ Candida Plus is a selective chromogenic culture medium for the qualitative detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of Candida spp., including Candida auris, from skin, throat, ear, vaginal, sputum, urine, and stool specimens. Following 24-48 hours of aerobic incubation at 30-37°C, the medium produces species-specific colony colors that facilitate rapid recognition of clinically important Candida species, including C. auris. CHROMagar™ Candida Plus is intended as a screening tool to support candidiasis diagnosis and surveillance and is not intended for the diagnosis of infection or to guide antimicrobial therapy. Presumptive isolates should be confirmed by appropriate organism identification, susceptibility testing, and, when indicated, epidemiological characterization.

High Species Specificity: Provides highly specific chromogenic differentiation of the most clinically significant Candida spp., including C. albicans, C. tropicalis, and C. krusei, with 100% analytical specificity reported under validated study conditions (Mulet Bayona et al., 2020).
Optimized for Candida auris Screening: Uniquely designed to differentiate Candida auris from other Candida species, supporting patient and environmental surveillance during outbreak investigations. Multicenter evaluation demonstrated 100% sensitivity and 100% specificity for C. auris detection (Mulet Bayona et al., 2022).
Direct MALDI-TOF Compatibility: Presumptive colonies may be analyzed directly by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry without subculture, reducing laboratory turnaround time and workflow complexity.
