Chameleon™ COLOREX™ Orientation
Chameleon™ COLOREX™ Orientation prepared culture media plates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ raw materials. This non-selective chromogenic medium is intended for the direct detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of uropathogens from human urine and veterinary specimens. Following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C, colonies exhibit distinct chromogenic reactions to facilitate the presumptive identification of common urinary tract pathogens. Suspect isolates should be confirmed using appropriate identification methods and, where applicable, antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
👉 Key Performance Features:
Broad Pathogen Differentiation: Chromogenic reactions provide simultaneous differentiation of the most common urinary tract pathogens on a single medium, supporting rapid presumptive identification.
Enhanced Detection: Improves recognition of mixed cultures and minor microbial populations, increasing detection of clinically significant organisms.
Semi-Quantitative Assessment: Supports semi-quantitative evaluation of bacterial growth for urine culture analysis.
High Specificity: Demonstrates 99.3% specificity for the presumptive identification of Escherichia coli, the most common urinary tract pathogen.
Improved Laboratory Efficiency: Replaces multiple conventional media (Blood Agar, CLED, and MacConkey Agar) with a single chromogenic medium, reducing workflow, media usage, and the need for subcultures prior to antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
