Chameleon™ COLOREX™ mSuperCARBA™ (RUO) prepared culture media plates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ raw materials. This selective chromogenic medium is intended for the qualitative detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE), including OXA-48 and OXA-48-like carbapenemase-producing organisms, from rectal swabs and stool specimens. Following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C, colonies exhibit distinct chromogenic reactions to facilitate the rapid presumptive identification of CRE. Presumptive isolates should be confirmed using appropriate identification methods, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and epidemiological characterization.

👉 Key Performance Features:

  • Broad Carbapenemase Detection: Detects a wide range of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales, including OXA-48 and OXA-48-like producers, following 18-24 hours of incubation.

  • High Sensitivity: Provides an analytical limit of detection of approximately 10 CFU/mL, enabling recovery of low-level colonization.

  • High Selectivity and Specificity: Selectively recovers carbapenemase-producing organisms while inhibiting most carbapenem-susceptible bacteria, ESBL producers, and AmpC hyperproducers, improving detection accuracy.

  • Rapid Colonization Screening: Supports direct screening of rectal swabs and stool specimens for efficient surveillance of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (CPE).
