Chameleon™ COLOREX™ MRSA (RUO) prepared culture media plates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ raw materials. This selective chromogenic medium is intended for the qualitative detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) from anterior nares, perineal, and other clinical specimens. Following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C, colonies exhibit distinct chromogenic reactions to facilitate the rapid presumptive identification of MRSA, supporting colonization screening, infection prevention, and surveillance programs. Presumptive isolates should be confirmed using appropriate identification methods, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and epidemiological characterization.

👉 Key Performance Features:

  • High Analytical Performance: Demonstrates excellent sensitivity and specificity for the selective detection of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), providing improved recovery compared to traditional oxacillin-based media.

  • Rapid Chromogenic Detection: Produces intense mauve MRSA colonies following 18-24 hours of incubation for rapid presumptive identification.

  • Enhanced Screening Efficiency: Supports high-throughput MRSA surveillance and colonization screening by reducing laboratory workload and turnaround time.

  • Proven Technology: The first commercially available chromogenic medium developed specifically for MRSA detection, with extensive use in clinical microbiology laboratories worldwide.

📌 This product is labeled for Research Use Only (RUO).
