Chameleon™ COLOREX™ MH Orientation (RUO)
Chameleon™ COLOREX™ MH Orientation prepared culture media plates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ raw materials. This is a chromogenic Mueller-Hinton agar designed to combine presumptive organism identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) directly from primary culture. Chromogenic differentiation enables recognition of organisms within mono- and polymicrobial specimens, while compatibility with gradient diffusion methods supports simultaneous susceptibility assessment. This integrated approach can provide same-day identification and susceptibility results, reducing turnaround time compared with conventional sequential workflows. MH Orientation is particularly suited for urinary tract infection (UTI) specimens and lower respiratory tract samples, including those from patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), where rapid antimicrobial susceptibility information may support timely optimization of antimicrobial therapy.
👉 Key Performance Features:
2-in-1 Testing: Combines chromogenic organism differentiation and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) on a single plate, supporting concurrent presumptive identification and susceptibility assessment.
Rapid Results: For many organism-antimicrobial combinations, identification and susceptibility results can be interpreted following overnight incubation, reducing turnaround time compared with conventional sequential workflows.
Clear Zone Interpretation: Chromogenic colony differentiation provides enhanced contrast around antimicrobial agents, facilitating visualization and measurement of inhibition zones and/or MIC endpoints.
Mixed Culture Differentiation: Distinct chromogenic reactions facilitate recognition of individual organisms within polymicrobial specimens while evaluating antimicrobial susceptibility.
Streamlined Workflow: Direct testing from primary specimens can reduce subculture and handling steps, supporting faster laboratory reporting for time-sensitive applications.
