Chameleon™ COLOREX™ LIN-R (RUO)
Chameleon™ COLOREX™ LIN-R prepared culture media plates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ raw materials. This selective chromogenic culture medium is intended for the qualitative detection, isolation, and differentiation of linezolid-resistant (LIN-R) Staphylococcus and Enterococcus spp. Characteristic chromogenic reactions facilitate presumptive differentiation of resistant Gram-positive organisms, supporting antimicrobial resistance surveillance and colonization screening. The medium is particularly suited for surveillance specimens, including nasal swabs for Staphylococcus and perianal or rectal swabs for Enterococcus, and supports monitoring of emerging linezolid resistance, including resistance associated with transferable mechanisms such as the cfr gene.
👉 Key Performance Features:
Sensitive Detection of Linezolid Resistance: Supports recovery of linezolid-resistant Gram-positive organisms with MICs as low as 8 µg/mL.
Direct Specimen Screening: Enables direct inoculation of surveillance specimens, reducing additional culture and handling steps.
Chromogenic Differentiation: Characteristic colony coloration facilitates presumptive differentiation of linezolid-resistant Staphylococcus and Enterococcus spp.
Species-Level Differentiation: Experienced users may presumptively differentiate E. faecium from E. faecalis and S. aureus from S. epidermidis based on characteristic colony appearance.
Compatible with MALDI-TOF: Colonies can be used directly for MALDI-TOF identification, supporting efficient confirmation of presumptive isolates.
AMR Surveillance: Provides a targeted screening tool for detection and isolation of emerging linezolid-resistant Gram-positive organisms.
