Chameleon™ COLOREX™ KPC (RUO)
Chameleon™ COLOREX™ KPC prepared culture media plates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ raw materials. This selective chromogenic culture medium is intended for the qualitative direct detection and differentiation of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) from rectal swabs and stool specimens. Following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C, characteristic colony coloration facilitates rapid presumptive identification of resistant organisms, supporting gastrointestinal colonization screening, antimicrobial resistance surveillance, and infection prevention programs in healthcare settings. KPC may also serve as an early indicator of multidrug-resistant organisms but is not intended to diagnose infection or guide antimicrobial therapy. Presumptive isolates should be confirmed by appropriate organism identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and epidemiological characterization.
👉 Key Performance Features:
Rapid Detection: Enables detection of Gram-negative bacteria with reduced susceptibility to carbapenem antibiotics following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C.
High Analytical Performance: Demonstrated 97.8% sensitivity and 100% specificity under analytical evaluation.
High Clinical Performance: Demonstrated 100% sensitivity and 98.4% specificity in clinical evaluation, compared with 92.7% sensitivity and 95.9% specificity for MacConkey agar.
Direct Specimen Plating: Eliminates the need for selective pre-enrichment, reducing hands-on time and streamlining laboratory workflow.
CRE Colonization Screening: Supports direct screening of rectal swabs and stool specimens for carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE).
