Chameleon™ COLOREX™ ESBL (RUO)
Chameleon™ COLOREX™ ESBL prepared culture media plates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ raw materials. This selective chromogenic culture medium is intended for the qualitative direct detection and differentiation of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Enterobacterales from rectal swabs and stool specimens. Following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C, characteristic colony coloration facilitates rapid presumptive identification of ESBL-producing organisms and supports colonization screening, infection prevention, and surveillance programs in healthcare settings. ESBL may also serve as an early indicator of multidrug-resistant organisms but is not intended to diagnose infection or guide antimicrobial therapy. Presumptive isolates should be confirmed by appropriate organism identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and epidemiological characterization.
👉 Key Performance Features:
Rapid Detection: Enables detection of ESBL-producing Enterobacterales following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C.
Chromogenic Differentiation: Characteristic colony coloration facilitates presumptive differentiation of ESBL-producing Enterobacterales directly on the primary culture medium.
High Sensitivity: Demonstrated 100% analytical sensitivity and 98% clinical sensitivity for detection of ESBL-producing organisms.
Direct Specimen Plating: Supports direct culture of rectal swabs and stool specimens without selective pre-enrichment, reducing hands-on time and streamlining laboratory workflow.
Selective Performance: Selective supplementation promotes recovery of ESBL-producing organisms while inhibiting susceptible competing flora.
