Chameleon™ COLOREX™ ECC prepared culture media plates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ raw materials. This selective chromogenic culture medium is intended for the simultaneous detection and differentiation of Escherichia coli and other coliform bacteria in water, food, and environmental samples. Characteristic colony coloration enables rapid presumptive identification and enumeration of E. coli and coliforms, important indicators of fecal and environmental contamination. ECC supports routine microbiological quality control, sanitation monitoring, and assessment of food and water safety.

👉 Key Performance Features:

  • Simultaneous Detection & Differentiation: Enables detection and differentiation of E. coli and other coliforms on a single medium, supporting assessment of fecal and environmental contamination.

  • Distinct Chromogenic Identification: High-contrast colony coloration provides clear differentiation, with E. coli producing mauve colonies and other coliforms producing blue colonies.

  • Simplified Workflow: Simultaneous detection reduces handling and testing steps compared with conventional methods requiring additional differentiation.

  • Versatile Method Compatibility: Suitable for direct isolation, membrane filtration, pour plate, and melted-medium techniques, supporting a range of food, water, and environmental testing workflows.

  • Easy Interpretation: Distinct, non-overlapping colony colors facilitate rapid visual interpretation and enumeration of target organisms.

👉 Finished product meets the following standards and references:

  • EPA
