Chameleon™ COLOREX™ Candida
Chameleon™ COLOREX™ Candida prepared culture media plates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ raw materials. This selective chromogenic medium is intended for the qualitative detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of Candida species from skin, throat, ear, vaginal, sputum, urine, and stool specimens. Following 20-48 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C, colonies exhibit distinct chromogenic reactions that facilitate the rapid presumptive identification of clinically significant Candida species and the detection of mixed yeast populations.
Chameleon™ COLOREX™ Candida is intended as a screening medium to support the laboratory diagnosis of candidiasis when used in conjunction with conventional culture methods. This medium is not intended to diagnose infection or guide antimicrobial therapy. Presumptive isolates should be confirmed using appropriate identification methods and, when indicated, antifungal susceptibility testing and epidemiological characterization.

👉 Key Performance Features:
Chromogenic Differentiation: Distinct colony coloration enables rapid differentiation of clinically significant Candida spp. and facilitates recognition of mixed yeast populations.
Rapid Results: Presumptive identification is achieved following 20–48 hours of incubation, reducing turnaround time compared to conventional media.
Enhanced Detection of Mixed Cultures: Chromogenic differentiation simplifies identification of multiple Candida species within a single specimen, overcoming the limitations of traditional media such as Sabouraud agar.
Comprehensive Population Assessment: Supports visualization of both predominant and minor Candida populations, improving detection of mixed-species colonization or infection.
Improved Laboratory Efficiency: Simplifies plate interpretation, reduces follow-up workload, and enables rapid selection of suspect colonies for confirmatory identification and susceptibility testing.
