Biplates: Chameleon™ COLOREX™ Orientation and Blood Agar (Orient|BAP)
Chameleon™ COLOREX™ Orientation and Blood Agar prepared culture media biplates by S²Media are manufactured using original CHROMagar™ and other high-quality raw materials.
Chameleon™ COLOREX™ Orientation is a non-selective chromogenic culture medium intended for the direct detection, differentiation, and presumptive identification of uropathogens from human urine and veterinary specimens. Following 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C, colonies exhibit distinct chromogenic reactions to facilitate the presumptive identification of common urinary tract pathogens. Suspect isolates should be confirmed using appropriate identification methods and, where applicable, antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
Blood Agar (Tryptic Soy Agar with 5% Sheep Blood) is a non-selective, differential growth medium intended for the cultivation of non-fastidious and fastidious microorganisms and for the visualization of hemolytic reactions.
👉 Key Performance Features:
Dual-Medium Differentiation: Combines chromogenic identification of common uropathogens with conventional growth and hemolysis assessment on a single biplate.
Rapid Presumptive Identification: Orientation media produces characteristic colony colors that facilitate differentiation and presumptive identification of common urinary tract pathogens after 18-24 hours of aerobic incubation at 35-37°C.
Broad Organism Recovery: Blood Agar supports cultivation of a wide range of fastidious and non-fastidious microorganisms, complementing chromogenic differentiation on the Orientation side.
Hemolysis Differentiation: Blood Agar enables visualization of ɑ-, β-, and γ-hemolytic reactions, providing additional phenotypic information for organism differentiation.
Mixed Culture Recognition: Distinct chromogenic reactions and colony morphologies facilitate recognition of polymicrobial specimens and mixed bacterial populations.
Streamlined Workflow: Two complementary media in one plate reduce the number of individual culture plates required while providing chromogenic, morphological, and hemolytic characteristics from the same specimen.
Clinical & Veterinary Utility: Suitable for culture and presumptive differentiation of microorganisms from human urine and veterinary specimens, with isolates available for subsequent identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
